Meet John & Kathleen
John F.X. Keane and Kathleen Dolan (Pellas) are both long-term residents of New Providence and are eager to bring their broad range of expertise and experience to Borough Council. In addition, they seek to bring balance to the way our elected officials represent the citizens of our community.
With his wealth of experience in the Borough along with a strong commitment to public service, John F.X. Keane is well-positioned to serve our community as a Council member. A resident of New Providence for 40 years, John has dedicated much of his time to our community, including as a member of the NP Lions Club, the Sustainability Committee and the New Providence Historical Society. He is the vice chair of the Planning Board and has served as chair of both the New Providence Recreation Commission and Boy Scouts Troop 1. Active in local politics, John has served as treasurer for the New Providence Democratic Committee and past campaigns.
John’s strong financial background—he has an MBA in Finance from NYU and 43 years of experience in banking, including launching a business for Citibank in NJ and NYC—would benefit our Council. He has already put his expertise to good use for our community, serving as treasurer of the Downtown Improvement District, where he managed accounts for the New Providence Police Department, New Providence Art and the New Providence Beautification Committee. In addition, John was a long-time member of the Economic Development Committee.
Kathleen Dolan’s path to becoming a New Providence Borough Council candidate has been defined by community service and leadership. She and her husband, Ted Pellas, have called New Providence home for more than 30 years, engaged in successful careers in pharmaceutical research and development (R&D). As it is for so many in our community, the highly rated New Providence School District was a primary factor driving their decision to put down roots here. Their children—Caitlin, Alex and Conor Pellas—attended NP public schools and graduated from NPHS. Kathleen has a B.S. in Microbiology and an MBA from Penn State, is a certified Project Management Professional, and has recently retired after a 38-year career in R&D.
Kathleen is a past president of New Providence Soccer Club and served as secretary of the New Providence Athletic Foundation, which raised funds to install the turf and lights at Lieder Field. Kathleen currently devotes her time to gun violence prevention, leading the Union County Chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. Known as a strong advocate who gets things done through hard work, relationship building and collaboration, Kathleen is ready to apply these skills to benefit New Providence as a member of Borough Council.
John and Kathleen are hitting the campaign trail, listening to residents’ ideas and concerns and learning how they can best serve our community’s needs on New Providence Borough Council.
